Use the Dependents/Beneficiaries screen to add or inactivate/activate dependents and beneficiaries or to edit information about them.
Active/Inactive Dependents and Beneficiaries
The Dependents/Beneficiaries table displays information about either active or inactive dependents and beneficiaries.
When the screen initially opens, it contains active information, and the word Active appears in the table heading. Click the View Active/View Inactive button to toggle between active and inactive records.
If there are no active records, inactive records display, and the word Inactive appears in the table heading.
Change Information
You cannot make changes directly on this screen. Select the appropriate button to add or edit dependent/beneficiary information or inactivate a dependent/beneficiary.
Screen Fields
Field | Description |
Check box |
To select a row for editing, select the check box to the left of the row.

Name |
This field displays the name of the dependent/beneficiary.
If you are viewing active records, you can select the hyperlink in the Name field to edit information about the person.

Relationship |
This field displays the relationship of the person to you.
|
SSN/Government ID |
This field displays the person's Social Security number or government ID.
|
Gender |
This field displays the person's gender.
|
Date of Birth/Agreement |
This field displays the person's date of birth (or the date of a legal agreement/document, such as an adoption agreement).

Type |
This field displays whether the person is a dependent, beneficiary, or both.

Inactivate/Activate |
When you are viewing the Active Dependents/Beneficiaries table, the Inactivate button displays. If you select it, and dependent or beneficiary information exists for the dependent/beneficiary, a screen displays on which you can confirm or cancel your decision to inactivate the dependent/beneficiary's coverage.
When you are in the Inactive Dependents/Beneficiaries table, the Activate button displays. If you select it, you can assign a benefit plan to the dependent/beneficiary in the Life Events/New Hires or Benefits Enrollment process.
The Inactivate/Activate button does not display when you access this screen from the Self-Service menu.

Add Dependents/Beneficiaries |
Click Add Dependents/Beneficiaries to launch a screen where you can set up a new dependent/beneficiary.
This button displays when you access the Dependents/Beneficiaries screen from the Life Events/New Hires or Benefits Enrollment process. It does not appear when you access the screen from the Self-Service menu.

Edit Dependents/Beneficiaries |
Click Edit Dependents/Beneficiaries to launch a screen where you can change information about a dependent/beneficiary.
This button displays only when you are viewing active records.

View Inactive/Active |
When you are in the Active table, the View Inactive button displays above the table. Select it to view the Inactive table.
When you are in the Inactive table, the View Active button displays above the table. Select it to view the Active table.
